I think alexi uses them both in the mix live, but roopes rack picture shows the gp-1000 and sp-1000 off so it might be a backup for him. Also before alexi joined Engl he had two ada mp-1s in his rack with his old sansamp preamp. He might use the sansamp only for gain and low end boost with the gp-1000/mp-1 in the loop for that excellent mid sound they both can do.
