A lot of people think (And I agree with this statement) that Metallica sold out after ...And Justice For All.

Yeah they went mainstream to top their last album, ...And Justice For All. It's kinda hard to beat number 11 on the charts with zero airplay and practically no support from MTV (when MTV actually played music). Even if you do sell out, you can still produce good music.
