It's possible but unlikely near the end because they don't know how much you're bidding so they might overbid you and screw themselves over. The key to success on ebay is bid on the item you want during the last 10-20 seconds. Trust me, it works EVERY time. Putting a bid on something ahead of time is just stupid. You almost ALWAYS get beaten if there's other who want it. Watch the item, see the bids as they go up, and in the last twenty seconds bid 5 dollars more or something. The automatic bids will only add 1-2 dollars so then you're golden.
