Will coil split humbuckers sound like single coil pickups? I have a MM Luke with EMG single coils that I need for some of my songs, but the middle pickup gets in the way of my picking hand. Was thinking about getting rid of it for a JP and split the humbucker in the neck position with a push/pull pot. Will it be as nasty and strat-like as a real single coil?

well, strictly said, they does not, but it totally depends on your demand.. for my demand, coilsplitting works very well, and i have the coilsplitting option on all my guitars.. but sure it does sound different than on my stratocaster with single coils.. but different doesnt mean "bad" to me.. i like the sound of coil splitted humbuckers

but as you said, the MM you got has EMG Single Coils, then you can get the EMG 81TW or 89 or 89r, and you have a real single coil in a humbucker, as they call it "dual mode humbuckers"
