Comments on Emperors new work

I know this has been talked about before, but I didn't have the CD at the time.

Well here is my opinion:

Ihsahns Vocals: What happened? It sounds like he's screaming into a tin!
Ihsahns Clean Vocals: Better than EVER!
The Music: The music in this album has to be some of the most complex music technically that I have ever heard, and some of the riffs are soo out their, while other riffs remind me of Opeth. The music on this album is just simply mind blowing, i's amazing.
The feel of the album? Well it seems more technical, but at the same time it's like insanity in a circus. The album seems more about insanity than ancient Norwegian religious Battles and Mythology, however the gothic feel is still there.

8/10 <--- fucking good, their best yet. This band progressed well and their departure from the scene is very well timed. Well done Emperor! Now I'm gonna turn to the bads side projects, which look quite exiting.

I'm in no position to comment on the actual album and the music that lies within... But, I do want to share something with you all...

I was about to give this cd a listen at the record store, when a guy asked if it was the new Emperor cd... I responded with a "yeah" and he said... "Good luck man... Cuz I don't like them anymore..." He's probably fussed over the fact that Emperor evolved beyond their Black Metal style and have tried venturing into new, unexplored territories... Since, this was to be their last release... Emperor was the one band that had probably changed his views on music... But, he didn't like what he heard and just started disliking them instantly...

Sorry for getting off topic, but I just needed to get that off my chest/head/wherever stuff like that is stored! :)

That guy must've been kinda narrow minded...

The album certainly is VERY DIFFICULT. it's harsh and unnormal, takes a lot of listens to like. But that's what makes it so advanced and evolved.

edit: also, i really can't see emperor following up this album. its kinda like they reached an evolutionary dead end. I hope this never happens to opeth.
