Condenser Microphone Recommendations? (x-post)

I'm looking for a pair of flexible condenser mics that won't empty my bank account. They will be used for a wide variety of instrumentation ... strings, brass, acoustic guitars, autoharps/dulcimers, etc. ... in a home studio. Any recommendations other than the old workhorse (SM57)? I did a quick search of old posts, but didn't find anything. Thanks.

CAD M177; they retailed at about £250 ($500?) when they first came out, I paid £120 for mine about 3 years ago and it was a bargain then...you can get them for £99 (c$200) now. 80hz High pass switch and -20db pad. Has a ridiculous dynamic range (I think it will take 140 odd Db if I remember correct), pretty flat response. It sounds great.
The M179 can often be had cheap too and has switchable pattern on it.

Slight downside is they demand quite a bit of juice from the phantom power so your phantom source needs to be solid to avoid problems.
