CONTROL DENIED To Complete Work On Sophomore CD - Nov. 18, 2002

Despite the tragic passing of CONTROL DENIED mainman Chuck Schuldiner (founder of the seminal death metal outfit DEATH) in December 2001, the surviving members of the band — bassist Steve DiGiorgio, vocalist Tim Aymar, guitarist Shannon Hamm, and drummer Richard Christy — will regroup early next year to complete work on the act's long-awaited sophomore effort, tentatively entitled "When Machine and Man Collide".

"I know you're all concerned that the new CONTROL DENIED album won't happen but the legal problems had to be taken care of first, including the legalities connected with Chuck's will," Jane Schuldiner, Chuck's mother, wrote on DEATH's official web site. "Now things are clearing up and after the first of the year things should start coming together. That's the most important thing in our lives at this time, making sure that we honor Chuck's request that this album be released. I have a special email address created to answer your questions. Please write to controldeniedalbum@yahoo.com"

According to previously published reports, the drums and most of the guitar parts have already been laid down (Hamm is believed to have only "a few touch-ups" left to do), and DiGiorgio and Aymar are waiting to record their parts, after which the album will be mixed and mastered. As Steve himself indicated in his touching tribute to Chuck, "it's sad beyond belief that [Chuck] never saw [the album] to its completion. We will try our best to finish it in his honor, but will never know if it lives up to his standards. That's the least we can do for someone who gave so much and cared so much about what he did and how it affected those who believed as well."

I'd like to know who will fill in the guitars.

It'd be nice if it were one of his hero's, like from maiden or kiss something.I doubt it though.

i read something like that a few months ago, in a mag.

RP>>>I love the band KISS< but dude, the kiss dudes, they cant play that way. Not even close.

true, but I was just looking for more than one example of influence.Probably should have said maiden and priest, or possessed.

My knowledge on Death is limited

Agreed on that. Some of the Control Denied stuff is pretty hard to get your head around playing, like the title track, the start is pretty odd.

Fucked if i know how to play leads like that though... !

RP>>>Yeah, kiss rules, but not in a death kind of way hahahha.

Cynic>>> Yeah, its hard stuff. I play at it, but i think if i applied myself, i could play some of the leads. I do a lot of SOP songs on the old guitar. I dont pull the leads off just like chuck and co, but i do pretty well. Kiss is a blues, groove, fun type sound. Nevr seriouse. And Gene and Paul, they are against rules, and against flashy playing. Which bugs me sometimes. But i suppose they wouldnt be kiss if they did songs any different.
