Converge-esque kinda band I just recorded...

Recorded this band over the past few days, and it's not really the sort of music I tend to listen to that often, I think my production might be a bit too clean cut, but I'd really like to get some of your opinions!

But pleeaasse dirty up those drums or atleast make them a bit more natural.. its whats making the production a bit to clinical at times i think

It sounds pretty cool and actually pretty unique as well. The only thing I would say is that the drums are pretty low in the mix and the bass is pretty loud. That may be what they wanted, but that's just my opinion. Sounds nice though!

Cheers dudes And yeah the band did want the bass pretty loud, despite what most of us tend to strive for, they wanted a muddy sound overall. But yeah I agree the drums could do with coming up a bit, especially the snare drum.

The problem with the drums is, that in some of the other songs the drummer is playing some REALLY fast intricate death-metal type stuff, and it sounds weird having the drums more natural sounding. It's really difficult (I think) to find a happy medium between being able to hear the whole kit properly, and it being dirtied up.

The vocals aren't actually distorted, the singers voice is actually just crazy-sounding. Also because he was SO loud, I couldn't turn the mic pre down low enough and still get a useable signal, so there's probably some clipping in the preamp. Other than that I just compressed it to shite, whacked a bit of reverb on there, and pulled almost all of the low-end out for a sort of lo-fi-ish sound.
