well, yes I have some bad news... was reading about this stuff. And the fate of Napser may happen to Kazaa! How am I gonna find metal anymore, certainly not on MTV.com.

Anyone know how to see if a song is copywrited???
or any adware that can block these fags at the MCAA?

if you find any more info...post them

Anytime I try to open kazaa it locks up today. Could be they've had th eplug pulled. I personally have never d/led more than a song or two from a abnd with a readily available album, As a musician who plays for the love of the thing, I know most bands break even at best, and I want to do the right thing anyway, etc etc. It IS helpful in hearing a band and deciding whether or not they're worth your while though, and that I will sorely miss if they do go the way of the Dodo.

Kazaa isn't the only filesharing network, you know? Besides, if I remember right, Grokster and some other decentralized p2p-networks were recently ruled legal in some court. Not sure about that though. DC++ is better for music anyway (as long as you have something to share)
Death of Kazaa would slow mp3-sharing as much as death of Napster and Audio Galaxy did = not at all. RIAA is fighting a war they can not win.

I'm glad Kazaa is getting shut down. Their spy wear and everything really fucked over my computer and everything. Yes! I had Audiogalaxy too and itt was so great but those fuckers in RIAA shut it down unfortunately.

funniest thing was when my old band's cd was on audio galazy...that's how obscure some stuff you could find on there was. The king indeed. I really don't LIKE kazaa, but I really don't trust the IRC-based file sharing stuff. Everyone on kazaa has shitty upload speed or cancels your d/l anyway. I also hate file-sharing systems where damn nerds won't let you d/l stuff unless you have a whole lot of files to share, or unles syouve been around a long time. Like its some exclusive club. Everything I d/l goes into a shared folder, anyway. bah.

sigh i remember Audiogalaxy... those were the days... I had napster as well but guess what, metallica banned me!!! for one crappy song my brother already owned the CD anyway... bah...

i dont really download mp3 now

Audiogalaxy... those were good times. But still, i like kazaa, too bad they'll shut down kazaa... what toke them soo long??...

The good thing about kazaa and WinMx and all that shit, is that i only download mainstreem music... nu-metal and some of that stuff, i preffer to get original METAL cds

I've been downloading a lot of music lately, and I have quite a bit shared... but I'm always supporting the bands I enjoy... I have over 400 store bought CDs, and I buy shirts and cds when I can, especially directly from the band, where it helps most.

kazaa is only good if you're interested in spyware and trojans. want to get music? go on irc. want to get movies/software/games? use edonkey or emule. they're not going to shut down any of these and they actually work a charm. dc++ is marginally useful if you already know people sharing there. the rest of the lot are highways for xupiter, shutting them down must be part of some mercy killing program.

rahvin.

Even if it does get shut down they'll be another up and running in a few weeks. And it will most likely be even better. But I doubt anything will beat AudioGalaxy. Those were the days.

Audiogalaxy. Damn do I remember all the new bands that program opened me up to. Also downloading the albums that I didn't have from a few bands. While I fully support buying CDs from the band/label, I'm not rich and I cannot afford to buy every CD I want.

I only use Kazaa (Kazaa Lite actually) for popular bands. For example, if I get a sudden urge to listen to a Black Sabbath song without hooking up my record player. As for downloading new music, Soulseek is the way to go. Every full album I download comes from there.
