Cover and release date for Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Gees.... bit of a nothing cover really. Just as well its the music that counts! :D

The artwork is almost as bad as the title!

I don't know about you guys, but I have a really bad feeling about this whole album. Hope I'm wrong, but I think it's all down hill from here, at least for me as a fan.

I'm not too excited either. Especially about the prospect of a 40 minute title track. :bah:

And the fact that the first CD contains only 5 songs. :(

I don't think I'll even bother buying this.

A Change of Seasons went for 26 (I think) minutes and is great. I don't think the 40 minute song will be a dud - I'm guessing it'll be similar to Fates Warning's A Pleasant Shade of Grey, which went for an hour, and was basically a lot of different songs that formed one big song, with similar music bits and choruses and stuff.

Or something.

That stuff is great, if they break it like the one on Awake and the Scenes From A Memory album.

But imagine how damn annoying Scenes From A Memory would have been should they have left it as one 75 minute song.

Have you heard A Pleasant Shade of Grey? That's an excellent example of a really long song done the right way. And incidentally, ex-DT keyboardist Kevin Moore does the keys on it.

I can't say I've heard it. Kevin Moore is great though.

My main problem with songs of such length is that I rarely get the opportunity to listen to music for an hour straight. If I do, I'd usually like to listen to more than one song.

Besides, if you press stop after 15minutes...

I didn't actually think of that :) Quite a good point. With Pleasant Shade of Grey, it's divided into 12 tracks, so I'm guessing this is what will happen with the DT song. I hope so, anyway, because I don't want to be holding the >> button down waiting to get to my favourite bit :)

It's another reason why digital is better than analogue.
If bands insist on releasing 20 minute songs, why don't we just all revert back to vinyl?

EXACTLY. Otherwise I have no problem with the longer tracks.

Could you imagine holding the FF button for about 10 minutes every time you wanted to hear 'Through Her Eyes'.

Why bother? I'd just pop in the single and listen to it :)

Song length aside, it's going to be tough to come up with a follow-up to SFAM, as that was such a damn brilliant album. I can't really see Six Degrees being a dud though, the band have put out quality release after quality release (I haven't heard their first album though). I am eagerly awaiting!!

NP: Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons

Guys, we have nothing to fear. This album is going to absolutly fuckin rock!
All the guys in the band reckon that this album surpasses everything that they have ever done including Scenes. I can see no reason why that would not be the truth. Have a look at the creatvie talent that is in the camp at the moment. Between Scenes and this new album, we have had Mullmuzzler 2, Feeding the Wheel, Bridge across Forever, and JP has written tracks for G3, which... from all accounts were awesome!

Fear not dudes, this album will be one of the best albums ever. I have never been in doubt of that.

When it is released, I am going to cancel work for the day, light a candle, sit in my room with a bottle of JD, and go nuts to 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence!!!!!

About the cover........ I agree it looks kinda plain, but who gives a shit. Somebody on the DT board inverted it and made it bolue, and it looks about 10 000 times better!
