Ok, I have AMD Athlon x64 Dual Core 4400+ , 3Gb RAM , Cubase SX3

When I want to work in Cubase on a song in only ONE open project I have a problem with CPU overloading.... I have like 4 guitar track with SoloC, 8050, Boogex on each and maybe some other Vst Instrument like Spectrasonic Omnisphere... and my CPU overloads and the sound becomes scratchy...

Do you guys have the same problems?

I run 8050 on low quality... It's a real bitch, because I have to export my guitar tracks in waves and then import them to another project where I can add two bass tracks (with plugs) and record bass and then move all that to another project where I mix and add EQ's and all that other mixing crap...

Another thing that sucks is that I can't have all those drum tracks in these guitar/bass (plug equiped) projects, so it's really hard to know which sound will fit with the drums.

How can make it more simple?

P.S. those who are about to start any kind of bombardment on me and my thread and will comment in an unhelpful way, please just facepalm and close the thread. Thanks! :D

i find it weird that people seem to struggle with a dual core when quad cores seem to have an almost obscene performance boost when it comes to stuff like this.

aside from that, i cant really help.
maybe its an issue on your end? done the usual shit? virus check, defrag, etc. that should help a bit.

what is your buffer size in your asio drivers ?
how many ms of latency are you getting ?
Which asio driver are you using in cubase ?

you use windows xp 32 or x64 ?

I think your system is good for doing such things as running SoloC or 8505 in multiple instances. The issue might be a config problem.

Is this one you've downloaded with a crack?

When it happens, hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, open task manager and check out the processes tab. If an instance of svchost.exe is using all your CPU then you probably have a virus. It might not be from the Cubase crack, could be something else nasty you've picked up, it happens easily enough.

Incidentally, all the best free porn comes from spankwire, and I'm yet to get a virus from it.

1. My buffer size can be set from 128 to 4096. When mixing I use 512.

2. My minimal latency is 5ms...when I mix on 512 buffer it's 14ms.

3. My ASIO driver is M-audio Asio driver, because I use M-audio BlackBox...is there any other driver that would be better?

4. I use windows x32 because many application just don't work on x64, my cracked Cubase for example and some other plugs.

Maybe I must tweak these settings here?

when you press f12 in cubase, which meter jumps to 100% usage, disk or asio(or cpu) ?

Gee yeah, I wonder what could be using all those cycles... There's several threads on here about SoloC causing CPU spikes if you have several instances (I'm pretty sure the AMD thing has been mentioned too), 8505 is fairly CPU intensive and running impulses uses a lot power too. Then put VSTis on top of that, it's no great mystery - your CPU is being used by all the shit your running on the project. Bounce at least a couple of the guitar tracks so you can delete some of the SoloC/8505 instances.

It probably also doesn't help that you've got what looks like a Creative soundcard running all it's junk in the background (you don't need the EAX or CTDVDDet stuff whilst you're recording if you're using the M-Audio thing), and Avast! is running lots of bits and pieces that use up more cycles

And why do you sound surprised that that you can overload the CPU whilst only having one project open?

Also, if you want to use cracked software that's your business, but telling everyone about it in a forum is generally considered a bit really fucking stupid.

1. Cubase is not best at using multiple cores. Reaper is.

2. When tracking i use minimum amount of plugins and about 4 to 8 ms latency.

3. When mixing, mastering, programming MIDI with mouse etc. i sometimes set it to even 100 ms latency.

4. Learn to use your hosts "freeze" feature.

5. Instead of using for example 1 reverb (or equalizer or compressor or whatever) insert per every track try to use 1 send effect for all tracks of 1 type.

Also
Start > Run > Type Regedit > Enter
Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl
and set Win32PrioritySeparation key to 0x00000018 (24)

thanks guys... will try all of this and see what happens.... and dudes about cracked cubase: TRY BEFORE BUY! and lookie there Mutant said it's better to use reaper on multicores....geeee what a waste it would be to buy cubase. :D

and dudes about cracked cubase: TRY BEFORE BUY!

Do not fucking start this. If you thought you caught hell earlier...

Piracy discussions have already been worn down several times, you should know what kind of mess you're getting into with anything 'cracked', and you're going to face a few problems from people on here who object to software theft.

Do a virus scan, get a DAW that can be used without untrusted cracks, and make sure the rest of your system is optimized properly. I have the same CPU, although with more RAM (not that it would matter in XP32), and never had issues like that because I was able to properly configure the thing.

I've found Cubase and Nuendo to be rather poor at harnessing the juice in my new i7 CPU. I've had similar CPU/plug-in performance as to what I had with the E6600. Happens on both W7 and XP 32 bit, optimized, bare-bones, no internet, minimal services. Hoping Studio One will be more adept at sharing the load across multiple cores.

If you want "TRY BEFORE BUY" then you get the demo.

I find it weird that people who obviously don't need advanced MIDI, are still using Cubase instead of Reaper.

don't open that can of worms. cubase beats the shit outta reaper...not the same opinion? Well, must be a matter of taste then.

MY statement was actually more aimed at the fact that someone asks for support for stolen software.
