Cubase 7 cpu hog?

I've been running cubase 5 with all kinds of tracks, plugins and Vsti's with no problems at all. Now with Cubase 7 its killing my cpu (I7 quad core 2630QM http://ark.intel.com/products/52219/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz) 8 gigs of ram. I can put the buffer all the way up and I still get drop outs. Anybody else noticing this?

I've been fine on 7 so far but I'm on mac.

What has pissed me off is not being able to save the mixer, it's even in the manual but for some reason the function isn't there. All well.

It's there in v7.0.0!

My guess would be there is some default setting in Cubase 7 that is causing your problem. Did you look through all your "preferences" and "project setup" to make sure nothing is wonky?

Yeah I did all the optimization stuff and still the same. And i didn't need to do any of that with cubase 5. I was going to get a ssd to see if it would help but the hard drive meter isn't being hit at all. The cpu is staying right around 75% and I get dropout spikes.

Hey try turning off the asio gaurd. that was making my cpu spike,..

i thought 7.1 was supposed to be out this month to fix all the remaining issues..

It's there in v7.0.0!

It was "accidently" as I can recall...in the next update it will be available again.
