This I screwed up and didn't post in correct sub, sooo I'll try again.

This snare gets me off. Any guesses as to what snare/samples it is?? Or some sorcery?

To me it sounds like a metal snare (Ludwig Supraphonic? 6.5"? Who knows) with a single ply head. Doesn't sound very sample-y to me, though it could possible be reinforced in the choruses/loud parts.

I think the sound of the room this was recorded in has a lot to do with that snare sound. It almost has that "next door" type room sound on it. In my studio if I put a drumkit in the live room and then put a room mic in an attached vocal booth with the door left open I can kind of get a similar "reverb/room" sound to to this. I believe that the Waves RVerb has a preset similar to this. This snare sounds like it was sampled from the actual kit and then placed back on top for reinforcement and bleed reasons.

I agree with Studdy.

The video is very cool (transports the perfect vibe for the music) and the band sounds great. I'll have to check them out. Exactly what I need after weeks of only hearing electro ...

Nice...regardless of means, it's brilliant.

Haha I agree, and I'm in the same boat. These guys are local where I'm from (Brisbane), they're like some sort of grunge revival...they pop up on national radio from time to time.

From my experience, the 'sorcery' here is to increase the 1.2-2.2khz range, but it's obviously the best if you could get this sound without EQ at all, and I have no info on that.

Sorry to derail the thread but the guitar sound is fantastic too - would anybody hazard at what the signal chain might be?
