I've sold more Cradle of Filth albums than Dimmu Borgir albums, but I still own more Cradle that Dimmu.

Tie game, everybody wins!

Hehe! Get that Stream of Passion album, you'll like it! :)

Talking of Lacuna Coil, have you heard "In a Reverie" (the reissue)? What's your take on this one?

I'm not sure if I own the re-issue or not? Are there bonus tracks at the end? The one I have consists of 9 songs. Pretty good album. "Fallen" rocks my socks. Why can't Christina urinate on the embers of my soul?

Dusk... and Her Embrace is a 7.5/10 album. And I am neither gay nor lying (although the first is debatable).

I love Dimmu's early stuff and their later work isn't as bad as people make it sound. Enthrone is a great album and Puritanical has some real cool stuff on it to. Plus Simen sounds about as good as any band he's ever been with on the Dimmu records he's on. The Archaic Course is his best overall, but he really standouts out more with his sparse use in Dimmu.

On the other hand, I have no interest in ever hearing more Cradle of Filth.

so you're saying that's better than Stormblast?

Like I said, I'm beginning to wonder about you...

Easily better in terms of better songwriting and execution. I think it's pretty telling when a band themselves don't really like the way something turned out and revisit to "fix" to their liking, both have done so.

That being said, I like both bands.

Don't come to this forum and make shitty, useless threads like this, thanks.

This thread doesn't interests you? Just don't pay attention to it. You probably think that your aversion towards those bands makes you very special, I think it makes you fucking predictable and close-minded.

Right, Dimmu Borgir re-did Stormblast of their own accord, not because Nuclear Blast thought they could make some money off it.

they did it because the band wasn't getting royalties from the cacaphonous version. any other reason is a lie. plain and simple.

that being said, i dont care for any of the works ive heard from both bands, inlcuding stormblast

I think you misunderstood MFJ. He means to say that Dimmu Borgir, particularly "Stormblåst" and "For All Tid" kicks CoF in the crotch with a spiked boot while assraping them simultaneously.

No contest.

Thank you, for this is indeed what was meant.

As far as the subject of "Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth" goes, I can say that Stormblast and For All Tid are the only things even worth spending time on.

edit: first, this is not directed squarely at the post above...

oh come on, most people who take black metal seriously are totally biased against these bands from the start and hate them becuase they are popular and people get them confused with actual black metal. now, theres nothing particularly wrong with that, but even if one of these guys put out the next true black metal classic you would still all slag it off becuase when you put on a record with a totally closed mind expecting to completely hate it, you're rarely disapointed. and hey, i might feel the same way had i gotten into the "real stuff" before i got Cruelty and EDT but i didnt, so i still dig them for what they are: black influenced metal. i love nattestid and dark medieval times, but i also love dusk... and her embrace. sue me...and anyone that says DCA doesnt have plenty of bm riffing is fuckin lying to themselves.
