Logic can read AU (Audio units) format only. TDM is Pro Tools plugin format. There isn't TDM - AU adapter.

It just allows you to utilize digi convertors through the HD cards. It won't allow you to utilize any of the TDM plugs, just the hardware. The ability to use the cards with either something like the digi 192 or with apogee interfaces gives you the possibility to have the same convertor/interface rig with 2 different daw's, which isn't uncommon but considering digidesign's name is on the hardware, it's kinda cool.

you sure? i remember reading that steven wilson uses some TDM plugs with logic......you'd need some digi hardware to run them mind

After reading through the logic manual and link posted by Machinate I stand corrected. You can actually use TDM plugs so long as they are not multi-mono or surround. Digidesign RTAS plugs however will not work but thats not what you're trying to run anyway Chuck. The Logic pro manual linked explains that it will create two mixers with in logic, one that handles tdm dsp processing and additionally another that processes native. This sounds like it would be a bit confusing at first however would integrate later into a best of both worlds situation.
