A friend of mine who recently got the promo of Crimson 2 says that the album is going to have 9 tracks instead of 1.

His initial impression of the album is somewhat disappointed. He says some of the songs are amazing, but others fall flat, although he thinks the disc may grow on him.

Is this legit? I thought there was just going to be one song, like the original Crimson.

My understanding is that it's going to be one song but broken into tracks for easy listening. And I didn't think it was done quite yet....

Like Death's Design?

The tracklist of the fake promo is one Dies Irae album. Check the off topic section.
The poster for the new album says Crimson II is 45 minutes long, not 62.
I've heard that promo and it doesn't sound like Dan at all.

The tracklist for the Dies Irae album called Naive (2001):

Sculpted In Stone
Ice In Dawn
Blurred
Parallel Universe Part I
Shattered Mockery
Slow, Slow
Imporos Verve
Shades
Parallel Universe Part II

The tracklist for Edge_of_Sanity-Crimson_II-PROMO-2003-AMRC:

Sculpted In Stone
Ice In Dawn
Blurred
Parallel Universe Part I
Shattered Mockery
Slow, Slow
Imporos Verve
Shades
Parallel Universe Part II

Exactly the same! :)

Hey everyone...
This really woke me up!!
There's noone is this world that has a copy of the version with vocals and leadguitars, except me...
and the reason there are 9 parts is because Black Mark more of less forces me to have that.
These parts are fiction and have no meaning musically. Crimson II is one track..one fantastic 43:00 piece...
if I can say so myself!! I will put index codes wherever I feel that a new part begins, meaning, it could be all 99 codes!!
It's a payback to all those poor people that had to skip to 34:27 on the Crimson 1!!!!!!!!!

8 tracks is what I hear, I think Åsa said so too when I spoke to her.

Er, what? I only said that what I've heard of it is like a mixture of "Purgatory Afterglow" and "Moontower". I don't really know any details... apart from that it sounds amazing :) From what I understand, it's going to be indexed... not divided in separate tracks musically.

Are you sure it is a "piece" or is it a "pile"?

I guess the difference between a 'piece' and a 'pile' is how well the concept album is crafted. If it consists of loose ideas simply stuck together just for the sake of calling it a 'one piece concept album', then it's a pile (of poo). If it is well thought through, and the idée fixes have a purpose rather than just being repetitive because the composer couldn't come up with anything better to do, then it is a piece.

Tee hee... I just love killing people's 'zany-ness' by being all dry and logical ;) ;)

So is it divided into tracks on the CD? And if so, will an undivided version be available?

Why would you do so...
since the index codes mean nothing.
You can listen it from beginning to end even it has more index codes than one.

That's why I rarely remember song titles, since I don't stare the index codes at all...
I put CD on my player and "listen" it insted of "watching" it ;)
If I wanna watch something,
I watch porn with alot more interest than index codes could ever give :loco:

Well, some CD players have a little bit of silence between tracks, which might mess up the flow of it.

Yes, it is. And in doing so you're completely and totally degrading the sound quality of the original recording. If one were that badly in need of a single track version (if the album really is indexed) they could just rip it with EAC and piece it back together as one track in a number of audio programs.

It's very easy to compress it to Mp3 as one track and reburn it as such.
