First off. I just want to say that Dan Swano is a god and that I wish I could eat his brain and gain all his knowledge.

Ok..down to business. I know this has had to been asked at one point in time but I have not been able to find any threads on it in the search, so if anyone has the info straightup or a link to the last time this was discussed, I would really apprectiate it. I was wondering what keyboards were used..and if anyone knows how to get close to those tones? I am a guitar player but I have been messing around on keys the past few months, just purchased a Korg Triton Extreme and I cant really find any presets that are close to the tone on the album. So any help I would really appreciate. Thanks

I used to play keyboards when I was younger, but since 2 weeks I moved it back from my paretns where i didnt use it to my own place, so now i tried it agian. No luck yet findin the moontower-sound yet on my Technics KN-1600 yet ;)

If I remember right Dan uses softwaresynths the most, and we discussed in this forum which Moog sound he used on Moontower. Try search function.

On Crimson2 Dan uses a mellow string set, and a square wave - at least thats all I can think of at the moment. You can basically use any string set and with a certain amount of equalization and reverb settings, you can eventually make it sound exactly like Crimson2. Also keep in mind stuff sounds different paired together with music. Alone your sound in the keyboard will probably sound pretty raw. Same goes for the square wave, just use a basic square wave in your keyboard, then mess with equalizer, reverb, delay, etc etc...

Check out one of my orchestrations!
