Hi,

I was wondering if any one can advise me on the easiest way to remove the "click" from the point where two pieces of audio are spliced together. I have used cross fading which works sometimes (by luck coz i don't really know what i am doing with the xfade). Also if i am working with a piece of audio that i have chopped the end off of i sometimes fade it to remove the "chop resultant click". ...:u-huh:

help?
cheers!

LSD-studio; what do you mean by cut? (as in chop, as in 'n paste..). ..And what is a zero point?
thanks

...i get it. I will give that a try.
When i apply a cross fade on a "click" an it doesnt hide click is that coz i am doing it wrong or that the amplitude of the click is too high to be effectively x faded?:kickass:

cross-fades in cubase are easy as all hell...all you have to do is have 2 snippets of audio overlapping each other, highlight the bit you want to crossfade, then hit the X button

From pag 191 of Cubase's Operation manual:

"Auto Fades and Crossfades

Cubase SX/SL features an Auto Fade function that can be set both
globally, i.e. for the entire project, and separately for each audio track.
The idea behind the Auto Fade function is to create smoother transitions
between events by applying short (1 - 500 ms) fade-ins and
fade-outs.

Making global Auto Fade settings

1. To make Auto Fades settings globally for the project, select “Auto
Fades Settings...” from the Project menu.
This opens the Auto Fades dialog for the project.

2. Use the checkboxes in the upper right corner to activate or deactivate
Auto Fade In, Auto Fade Out and Auto Crossfades, respectively.

3. Use the Length value field to specify the length of the Auto Fade or
Crossfade (1-500 ms).

4. To adjust the shapes of Auto Fade In and Auto Fade Out, select the
“Fades” tab and make settings as in the regular Fade dialogs.

5. To adjust the shape of the Auto Crossfade, select the “Crossfades”
tab and make settings as in the regular Crossfade dialog.

6. If you want to use the settings you have made in forthcoming new
projects, click the “As Default” button.

The next time you create a new project, it will use these settings by default.
7. Click OK to close the dialog.
"

I use 5 to 10 ms as default and have no problems. Everytime I need something more clinical I just edit the fade.

hope that helps

I've got mine set up for a 5ms auto crossfade between waveforms. I apply manual crossfades for things like drums and vocals... but guitars and bass stop/start at a grid point and the auto crossfade takes care of any pops or clicks.
