what exactly is the difference? apart from the extra £100...im deciding upon which one to get..

Last year, I bought Cubase 4 Studio (crossgrade from Pro Tools) as a way to cheaply audition Cubase in my production environment before I ultimately chose it as my full-time platform. I then was able to upgrade to Cubase 5 full at a discounted price, and the features in the full version are absolutely worth having. If you're not sure about Cubase, a good way to get acquainted with it is Cubase Studio, it quickly sold me on the full version and essentially counted as money towards the full version.

yeah man, im used to logic so cubase is kind of new territory although ive played around with my friends copy while i did some production for his band. I think i shall get the full version! appreciate the info :)

Mp3 encoder not included in the Studio version

Are you fucking kidding me?! It's a fucking tiny minute feature that still is incredibly useful, but certainly shouldn't cut the price of C5 enough to warrant omitting it from Studio...arrrggghhh, Reaper + LAME for the win BRO

FUCK CUBASE STUDIO.

I'm so goddamn pissed that they don't advertise some of the biggest differences...

like the fact that you can't monitor or apply fx to input tracks like you can the output tracks, and you can't apply FX directly to waveforms (right click, plugin status).

 Jeff

FWIW the MP3 encoder is only $15 + any import duties (~$20) for Studio users. I agree it should be just included but $20 isn't really all that bad to have that feature. I am really looking forward to getting the full version of C5, finally a conv verb and pitchcorrection all built into Cubase. Extended EQ as well....looks like I'll finally have everything I've been wanting haha. Other than those, Cubase has been a great host for me for several years.

THIS! I use to be able to do this in SX, it was the very first thing I missed when I got CS4! FUCK!

THANK YOU

i'm not the only one. CS pisses me off with little things like that SO much.

don't get studio.

I GOT CUBASE 5 FULL WOOPWOOPWOOP i fucking HATE the way automation is done in reaper..loved it up until automation its so gay. I prefer the hyperdraw method in logic, im sure cubase uses this method also?

Huh? You can draw automation with a pencil tool or, like I do most of the time, enable automation READ + WRITE and just move the fader around or panning, or bypass an effect, whatever needs to be done, I like to do it while it plays through. It records the automation data and then I turn WRITE off and I'm done. Sometimes I'll need to go back and fine-tune what I've done by using the pencil tool or just the mouse tool to drag points around. But usually I get it the first pass.

It's actually extremely easy, IMO, to do automation...no harder than any other host.

that wasnt the way i learnt how to do it from the manual..i had to go through all those envelope shits to get where i wanted to be and it still sounded shit. I prefer having the one automation line like in logic and then adjusting the ramps to taste

A friend told me today that the REVerence reverb plug is simply stunning!

Whats your thoughts? Is the plugin really all that? Or is it just the IR's thats good?

Yea, and you are doing it wrong. Don't use the manual's way.
