Everytime I go to re-record, Sometimes I have the group channel selected...then I press delete (meaning to delete the take)...then BOOM...then undo...then no routing is held for the tracks that went to the group track...i.e my whole fucking DRUM SET which was then parallel comp'd

Huh, so what I did was:

Routed a track to a group track, deleted the track that was routed to the group track, undo.

Came back routed to the group track. Do you mean accidentally erasing the group track?

In that case, yeah I can see that. Cubase goes "yeah, there is no bus anymore so fuck that connection."

But I agree, just do presets and get back to where you were faster.

yeah, but you also can't accidently delete it by hitting backspace/del.
hated that in cubase...always have to make triple sure if a region or a track is selected before you hit delete

For me it's the other way around. I have to make sure when deleting tracks that I don't accidentally wipe half my regions.

Yep, you can shit can any annoying cubase keystroke you don't like. I personally hate what the key "Z" does as a default so I killed that mofo. But here is how you do what your asking (problem is, this also kills using the delete key instead of the erase tool):
