Customising My 5150;

Yeah im thinking about customising my 5150, not in the bios sense because ive already had that done

More talking about changing the look of the amp head.

Ive drawn up a quick mock up in photoshop of how i think i'd like it to look and i just wondered what the rest of you guys thought

So as you can see i was thinking of sanding down the wood as the amp came 2nd hand without tolex. Staining the wood and then applying new handles and corners to the head.

The interesting part is the piece of metal im getting a friend of mine to cut for me to fit in the front of the amp which will have the 5150 logo punched out of the metal so that when i turn it on the LED lights shine through

Im pretty excited to get this all sorted as i think it'd add more of a personal touch to the amp.

What do you guys reckon ?

you should embed a small 6" flat screen onto the face - watch the news while shredding on stage

i was going to do some pimping to my 6505+ - thinking about finding some camo tolex and pimping out the head and replacing parts with polished chrome - i'll do it next summer i think when i have some free time

That's a pretty cool design. I like the idea of stained wood! The coolest thing I saw was a plexi-glass front with LEDs in it. I know someone posted it here; I believe it was 006, but don't quote me on that one.

Yeah man you should defiantly pimp your head!
I dont see why its not more common to get customised heads these days.

Yeah that was me, but honestly George's idea with the metal plate will look a lot better. However, George, if you are looking to see what it looks like just go on eBay and put "5150 faceplate" I think and it should come up from a dealer on there.

Anyway, I think it's a cool idea and I hope you go through with it George!

i was chatting to him through email, he's a cool guy and will do custom work for you if you want it for not too much extra $$$ wise (in my case euro's lol)
