I think it's funny that Opeth will be playing shows with Danzig as the headliner.
That's really fucking funny.
I saw Danzig at a festival a couple of years ago...one of the worst shows I've ever seen.
He's such a dick, and his show was horrible.
Oh well, it'll probably be ok, the other bands are ok...don't care for superjoint ritual, but maybe they at least put on a decent show.

But Danzig...what a washed up prick.

Yea...unfortunately I saw Danzig live too..he sucked sooooo much ass..by far the WORST live show I've ever seen! Danzig isn't even in the same league as Opeth...what a stupid lineup!

His music certainly isn't great, but when I saw him it was a combination of him putting on a pretty good show and the relief that prong had finished playing cause they really fucking sucked.

I saw Danzig open for Slayer back in the day, and he was alright back then.. I like old Misfits..Lucifage wasn't a bad Danzig CD, but he hasn't released anything relevent in years..I had a debate with a delusional Danzig fan on the "opeth tour trouble" thread..I had to put him in his place..I remember when Danzig tried going industrial with the "Can't speak" single, that Cd was awful..
The opening bands will put Danzig to shame..

You guys are teh suck, Danzig r0xxs!!!

Actually I'm a huge Danzig fan, I'm very excited to see Opeth and Danzig in the same night. I'm surprised that people think he's no good live, I've seen him 4 times and the energy level is tremendous. If you don't like the music, that's one thing, but his live show certainly doesn't suck.

Don't get me wrong. I saw Danzig live on the Lucifuge tour and he was amazing. I love Danzig's first two albums. The third and fourth are okay, but everything since has been miserable. I think he's gone completely downhill since he got rid of John Christ and Eerie Von. To me, John Christ was more responsible for the classic Danzig sound than Danzig himself.

I will agree with that, John Christ and Eerie Von kicked ass. Joey Castillo was an excellent replacement for Chuck Biscuits, but the string of guitarists since Christ left have sucked, and bassists have been completely irrelevant since Von left.

The current line-up is Howie Pyro, Tommy Victor, Johnny Kelly, and of course Glenn Danzig.

well that's just it...when I saw him there was NO energy level.
maybe the crowd sucked
but it was really a miserable hour and a half
it was so bad...that's why i made a point to start this thread, because I couldn't believe that he was going to headline over Opeth

but, i'm beginning to think that the show i saw was just really really bad.
i'm not a fan at all though, so i guess i wouldn't enjoy it either way.

@COnsiderateApathy: I don't know, I thought that the Prong reunion was temporary. Either way I think Victor's Danzig stint is temporary as well, since Todd Youth recently left the band. He has been a Danzig tour guitarist in the past.

@shivering corpse: I hope that you get to see a good Danzig show this time. :)

Well what the hell are John and Eerie doing now? John released a mediocre solo rock album and Eerie is doing ambient soundscape stuff. I think Danzig should mend his fences with those dudes, hire them back, and go back to writing decent music. Until then, I'm not gonna give him another thought. (Blackacidevil, Satan's Child, I Luciferi STRIKE THREE You're OUT, Glenn.)

Some of the stuff on 6 is ok (Lilin, Five Finger Crawl, Into The Mouth of Abandonment), as well as Ashes from 5, but nothing has totally clicked with me since 4 (which is my favorite Danzig album). *shrug*

I agree. I saw Danzig last year and I can honestly say I sold every Danzig album I owned after the show. I guess he was fun to listen to when I was a teenager, but his material is extremely boring and repetitive. I also agree he was a jackass on stage throwing stuff and having a pissed face all night. I mean come on, I go to shows to have a good time, not to see a jerk on stage who believes he is so great.

Danzig 4p is a masterpiece.
5 grew on me and now I love it (years later, mind you).
6:66 is extremely poor quality.
777 showed me that he could still write good material. Not perfect, but definitely the best since 4p.

Eerie Von's solo stuff is cool, very B-movie creepy. :zombie:
