Dargaard

I own all of Dargaard's albums. They are all beautiful. My fave would have to be the second album, In Nomine Aeternitatis. If you like Dargaard, also check out Die Verbannten Kinder Evas

It's interesting and different, in a way. The music is very nice (when not too synth-sounding), and her vocals are very beautiful. I'd be happy to d/l some by the band you suggest, do you have a website or something you could point me in the direction towards?

Hey, what are some other bands of the genre? I'm just heard about it recently and no very little about the specifics...

Die Verbannten Kinder Evas (Darkwave side project of Protector from Summoning. DVKE sounds like Summoning without guitars and without black metal vocals)

Dark Sanctuary

Black Tape for a Blue Girl

Dead Can Dance

You might also like Pazuzu

I like Dargaard as well, it's very soothing and calm. Great music to listen when trying to relax.

BTW, Dominion^3 is somewhat similar to Dargaard (it's not as calm) which isn't all that suprising considering that the music is composed by the same man (Tharen, who also plays in Abigor). Elisabeth from Dargaard also sings on some Dominion^3s tracks.
Check it out.

I saw that from looking at the Dargaard website. I'll be sure to d/l something by Dominion^3 when they get one on their site (which seems to be through their label).

Others of the genre are old Mortiis, Raison d' Etre, as well as the ones that Dreamlord mentioned.

Mortiis and Dead Can Dance are the only ones of the bands I've known so far, hehe. I'll check it out.

I haven't heard anything by them before, but I d-loaded the tracks....they are great! Nice soothing and epic quality, similar to Arcana and Ataraxia, and the instrumental reminds me of early Mortiis stuff.
Dargaard's Thy Fleeing Time is sublime!

I would back the recommendation of Dead Can Dance most definitely! :)
For darkwave/dark ambient stuff, I would recommend Raison D'etre first and foremost (as has been mentioned above), Sephiroth, Angels Of Venice/Carol Tatum, Arcana, Ataraxia, Letum, Necrophorus and Ond to begin with.
