Start with The Gallery for sure, then get Fiction. If you like the former, get more of their earlier albums. If you prefer the latter, get their later albums.

I say start with The Gallery. It's melodic, easy to get into, and you can progress through the discography.
I would say start with Skydancer, but I think The Gallery is way better.

The thing with Dark Tranquility is that I got "The Galery" based on a bunch of recommendations from people on forums & when I got it I listened to it a bunch of times to give it a chance & it completely turned me off to wanting to check out anything else from them. Not saying their other albums are bad because I haven't heard much from them, but "The Gallery" is trite as fuck.
