What are you using in terms of an OS for the laptop and Desktop? If you have a wireless network you can share files over a workgroup. Also i recommend just purchasing an external hard-drive. They come in handy and you get get a 1 tera. HD for $120 (which is not bad at all) It really depends so I need just a bit more information
