Arjen Lucasson said that there is a theoretical impossible part in the solo of DAWN OF A MILLION SOULS.
Which part is it and why is it theoretical impossible?

There is a chromatic riff in the solo that is technically impossible; even Russell couldn’t believe his ears.
It's a figure of speech - if it were technically impossible then how did he do it on the CD? Bend the laws of physics for the solo?

While I respect MJR and think he's one of the greatest guitarists ever, I don't attribute him with the power to wield the cosmos at his will... although I'm sure he'll get there one day.

It's about 5:52 I believe at the end of the solo.

Could someone please put a mp3 clip for that part of the song. I really start to wonder. MJR, achieving the impossible :) Sounds weird.

here is the link to the solo!

and here's a comment by arjen:

"When Russell had agreed to sing the song ‘Dawn of a Million Souls’ I asked Michael if he could play a guitarsolo in that song. After all Michael is technically one of the best guitarists in the world at the moment. What he ended up playing surpassed my wildest expectations. Both melodically and in virtuosity. There is a chromatic riff in the solo that is technically impossible; even Russell couldn’t believe his ears. After I heard that, I didn’t touch my guitar for a few months… what’s the use? Damn you, Michael!"

Does he mean that legato chromatic stuff. Yes it is really incredible. But if we can hear it, it is possible then.

Do you mean the part at 23 seconds?
For crying out loud. Why don't people actually read a thread before replying to it? Especially one they started!

Yes I listened to the song at 5:52...
I think that wasn't the part
listen to the mp3 of the solo - the part you meant isn't played there...

I realised that part is extremely difficult to perform, when i first listened ages ago. And i have no deep kowledge about guitar techniques. He is awesome...

BTW, isn't the scale order of this solo the same as one of Pink Floyd's songs? I can't remember which one, damn!!!
