Dawn - Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)

Listening to the 2nd cd of the reissue right now. The "Naer Solen Gar Niver For Evogher" and "Sorgh Pa Svarte Vingar Flogh" albums are outstanding. "Diabolical Beauty" just completely kicked my ass.

The Somberlain > Storm of the Lights Bane > Slaughtersun
Somberlain is definetly a 10/10 buy or die, etc. album in my book. The other two are damn close though. I've never really seen Dawn discussed to much outside this forum though, so I guess I havent really seen much hype of them or Slaughtersun.

Somberlain is more of a "active" album (walking or transit and such), Storm is better for sitting at home and listening. But they're both 10/10 Buy or I'll anti-cosmically kick your fucking ass.

The only thing I really miss on STOTLB that the Somberlain had were the awesome classical guitar peices throughout the album that the other guitarist (john zweetslowots whatever the hell it was) did.

Actually the album is excellent, no doubt, but is it 10/10 buy or die? No. That's all I was saying because I had the impression most people thought it was. Like.

And "Storm of the Lights Bane" is better, but "Somberlain" is not.

Funny, since I love Somberlain more than SOTLB.

Holy shit, Dawn's cover of Infernal Majesty's "Night of the Living Dead" fucking rocked the house down!! Damn, I'm going to have to check me out some Infernal Majesty in the near future. Ok, the whole Slaughtersun 2 cd reissue set officially kicks serious ass, but I have to hear more Dissection before being able to legitimately compare the two.

Now, onto the Thyfing catalogue....

Yes. "None Shall Defy" is MANDATORY thrash metal. The way I usually describe it is "Hell Awaits" gone slighly more tech; they sure like their weird time signatures and all-over-the-place riffs.

I agree with Josh on this one, though based on different albums. I honestly think Naer Solen Gar Niber... beats the pants on anything Dissection released.

SotLB is great, no doubt, but I get tired of it after Where Dead ANgels Lie. t's like the band have said everything they can after that song. Dunno, I still like it though. Never really was crazy about Somberlain, but it's good. Maha Kali was dreadful.

I also think Sacramentum's early material is better than Dissection, or at the very least on par.

SotLB is much more overrated than SLaughtersun ever has been.
