dDrum trigger weird issues

Hey

I'm using a brand new dDrum red shot trigger set right now on an acoustic kit that I've mounted according to the usual way of doin' - using a tension rod. Then I tuned the drums.

I plugged them directly into the soundcard just to get these 'clicks' but the sound is really bad. I get not only a 'click' but also the actual sound of the drum but it's saturated! (not clipping tho)

So I cannot use the transient signal to replace it as it not just a transient but a normal soundwave (yeah I can but it's not easier than using the normal drum signal so...)

Cables are ok, everything works fine but this. I thought it was because the triggers are 'strongly' pressing the drumheads (but I don't see another possibility as long as they're mounted with a tension rod)

Have you an idea of what could cause this sort of shit? 48v phantom power issue?

mmmm.... well, I'm afraid that the pro ones would have been a better choice and for just a few bucks more.

some additional noisy wierd shit comming through the triggers is normal, never had a problem with slate trigger or aptrigga having problem finding the transients among it.

oh, ddrum triggers are shit anyway, beocuse they break way to frequently, use roland

Never had that problem with my DDrum Pro's. But then they did break after a while, so I'm using drumdial triggers these days. Transient isn't as well defined as it was on my ddrum pro's but they seem much sturdier.

I'm relieved it's normal. I will see if gates (and Trigger if necessary) will work properly with these signals. I'm gonna check other triggers tho ;)
Thanks dudes!

Not much of advice on the issue at hand, but ditch the Ddrum triggers. There are countless stories all over the web and throughout the scene from people of how often those things break and fall apart. The transducers can become shot within a few days sometimes. I had a pro series kick trigger break on me after 2 days of recording. Emailed Ddrum, and their response was, "Want us to replace the transducer for you? That'll be $30 and shipping."

Save some more cash and invest in the Roland triggers. Much more solid, easier to use, last much, much longer, and they even come with a cable. Pretty much plug and go with them, too.

Well, you're not the only guy to say that. Thanks for the advice.
I took a look on the signals and there are actually many "double hits" on the kick. So I had to edit these. Not a big deal but not what I was expecting.

I recently used the red shots and they sound like what you described. One of them already gave me problems though and I had to replace it after only two days of use. They got the job done though. Guess they are 30 bucks for a reason.

Wow hope mines will still work for a few weeks, I have 2 recordings scheduled and triggers save the day sometimes. Even they're shitty :) I will def try to save some money and get those Roland for kick and snare at least. Anybody here to buy a marvelous Ddrum Red Shot trigger kit in mint condition?? ahahah!
