Dear Jews and Romans

I hate it, because the jews created a monster... they created christianity...
or was it the Romans? I don't know... whoever killed jesus.
It was the Romans.
He was killed on Passover. Jews did not kill on the Sabbath or holidays.
The Jews also did not crucify.

Passover also took a lot of preperation (having to bring the sacrifice and all). The Jewish assemblies did not even have the time to go through an execution at that time. The Jews that were watching it were like the scum of society that just wanted to see someone die.

I don't even know if the Jews had the authority to conduct an execution. The Jewish king at that time, and the high priest, were appointed by the Romans

Well, here's the problem - now we're actually trying to read into a bullshit story.

Simply put, the Jews had no such authority and needed to persuade the Romans to off anyone who was a serious threat to them. And yes, that's right - the high priest was appointed by Rome. This does, however, put a gigantic hole in the story, because his appointment could be pulled at any point and if he had in fact incited a riot and threatened Pilate, as the Bible says he did, he would certainly have put him on bad terms with Roman authorities, who throughout their history had shown no problem with stomping the shit out of people who caused problems and could easily just have sliced the whole lot in two.

The Jews did not have that authority, indeed. But Jesus was crucified at their request. The Romans cared not a whit for Jesus and his supposed crimes, that is why Pilate gave them the chance to choose between Jesus and Barabbas - because he did not want to execute Jesus at all, and wanted to give the Jews one last chance to reconsider getting Jesus crucified. But those dang Jews chose to let Barabbas (a murderer) go free instead of Jesus, and so Pilate said, "fine, I offered you the opportunity to spare him, but you chose to release a murderer instead of him - I wash my hands in innocence."

At least, that is what that great work of fiction - The Bible - tells us.

The real persecution of Christians was all post-Jesus anyhoo.

You can read alot of Tacitus and he sounds like Southern Born Republican Senator talking about Porn, when he was - indeed! - talking about the morally reprehensible Christian faith.
