Dear npearce...

Oh boy did I feel that earthquake. Since it wasn't in SF or LA, it's not getting that much news. I was at work about 50 miles from the epicenter. At least 3 people died in Paso Robles. We left work 2 hours early because they still haven't restored our electricity. However, at my house, which is about 10 miles closer to the epicenter, we have electricity, and I can barely tell that anything moved here!

I was sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden the windows started to rattle. A co-worker shouted "Earthquake". Then for the next 30 seconds it felt like the room was bouncind up and down and swaying back and forth. Cars that were parked in the parking lot were all bouncing around. It was crazy! I felt dizzy, but I think it was because I couldn't focus on anything because everything was moving. The trees outside looked like a 100mph wind had just come through.

Too bad those people died. Otherwise it was a cool experience. And I'm glad none of my stuff was damaged at my home. Lots of other homes and businesses have tons of damage.

It was a 6.5. It think that is considered pretty bad. They were calling it major.

It was funny that I was the only one at work that remained calm afterward. I work at a bank so I had to tell everybody to lock up the doors and their cash.

I guess it was on the major news a little, but like I said, if it's not in the major cities nobody cares.

It's funny how when big things happen on small towns no one cares. I didn't even know about this until now.

It was a nasty quake, and it did some major damage. But I still don't think it's near as bad as sitting through a 12 hour thunderstorm wondering when/if/where the tornado is going to hit. With an earthquake, it just hits and runs. 30 seconds and its over (no sexual comments here please).

Arizona Bay will happen. Whether it be by nature or that of Los Angeles imploding due to its own self-inflicted cancer, only time will tell.

Anywho, that sucks that 3 people died. 6.5 is pretty sizable, I've felt some pretty hefty movement by 4.x quakes, 50-75 miles from the epicenter even.

It was on the news here and on the front page of MSNBC.com and FoxNews.com but yeah, if it was LA or SF, would have been major news.
