DEATH.. best metal band ever?

I just bought the new Sound of Perserverance reissue at Ameoba yesterday... it comes with a DVD of a rare bootleg performance that is just sick.

Death is without a doubt, one of the best and most influencial metal bands in history. Much like King Crimson, every album they put out was completely ahead of its time. They never repeated themselves, and never insulted their listeners intelligence with dumb music. The lyrics are mind blowing, and the music speaks for itself. Chuck was basically the Frank Zappa of metal.

No offence dead lioness, (you are so beautiful and you are into cool music.) Have you considered that Chuck has been dead for a few years now, (RIP) Not quite availabe to be "# 1 in the scene". If you listen to all the death recordings and follow the progression, just imagine what he would be producing now. World domination! It boggles my mind that you people are into Nevermore and don't think Death Rules. Hello Mcfly anyone there?

none taken, but I dont think you've listened to what I said... you heard me,
but didn't listen...

one of the best, maybe, but not the BEST.

Its hard to say who's the best anyways... we all have different taste and opinions
in the matter... but Death, legends as they may be, are far from being the "no.1" in the scene...

I said they are one of the best... FYI they are on my top 10 favorite bands of all time, but to say a cerain band is "no.1" is such a hard task by itself.
Quiet frankly, I agree with what Brooks said: they were ahead of their time
and every album was fantastic, and I love each and every one of them,
but to "assume" that if Chuck was still alive
they would have released even better albums and become the no.1 band
is just like
saying that if Kennedy was still alive there would be no hippies because there would be no Vietnam war...

who knows right?

plus, I don't believe in "no.1" I believe in top 10 myself, since I have
a lot of sides and styles I like. :Spin:

So you're on the Nevermore board wondering why everyone doésn't think Death's the best band ever... there is something of a logic leak somewhere in there, despite the fact that yes, Nevermore fans as a whole quite like Death (there's influences in there and all, and the whole fellow thoughtful, technical, creative metal band thing in action, 'tis true).

I don't understand what chuck's overground/underground status or extrapolated projections have to do with anything. If we followed your logic we should all be exclusively worshipping Jimi Hendrix or some shit anyway. because he'd be really fucking good by now.

They are in the top 2 of my all time favoutire bands, along with Dissection.

Chuck is in fact my favourite guitarist as well. I'm simply stunned sometimes at the solos he composed. Every single one is individual and stands alone from the others. The lyrics he wrote (especially Symbolic) were also phenominal in my opinion.

I can't praise Death and Chuck enough really, as I think they really were one of the most talented and deserving metal bands to ever enter the scene.

I wouldn't call Death the best metal band ever (I wou;dn't call anyone that honestly), although I will state that Human is my favorite album by anybody, and Chuck's lyrics are among (if not at the top of) my favorite.
