Howdy folks

I'm mixing this death metal band and need opinions about the sound. This is my first take to record growling vocals (or any kind:)) so I need to know especially about those.

I noticed that the hihat sounds kinda terrible, but I will fix that later. So, check it out and tell me what to fix or not :)

The band is called Cadaveric Incest

Thanks:kickass:

Over all, it still sounds very good in a somewhat different way. Yeah, fix those hats. The kick seems a little loud and boomy but maybe thats what you were going for. The gtrs could be better.
What cab/speaker/pickup/gtr/amp are they? Bass, ride and vocals sound really good. Snare and cymbals sound good also.

Thanks for the reply! Must check that kick.. The band apparently want old school death metal sound, but the problem is that I aren't very familiar with the style. Or more accurately, how to make one to sound like that :).

The guitars were recorded with podxt with bad monkey in front. The sound choice could have been better, I have to admit, but have to go with these. The guitars were Ltd m-50 with stock pickups on the other side and Eko guitar from the 80's (or something) on the other side. Both with some heavy ass strings

The dumsounds got tweaked quite a bit. They are played with electric set and then DFHS'd.

Bass was recorded through Art StudioV3 preamp and then duplicated into 2 tracks. I eq'd them to form two components. The higher part got Gsuite jcm900 for distortion and the lower part got kjaerhus compressor. And then in the bass group another kjaerhus compressor. I like that sound. Then you can just add/subtract the grit with that jcm'd bass channel.

Wow, I hope that makes some sense. Had "few" beers

I'm assuming the gtrs won't be re-tracked and they weren't DI'd.

Oh well, next time, search for Black Neon Bob's pod settings and use it with impulses and get DI's and you'll be golden.

Yeah, I dind't record the DI tracks :erk:. I had that in mind although because I was going to use wagner+impulses to the guitars..But then went with the pod for simplicity.
