I have heard alot of death metal. Most of it I cant stand but, what i do like count among my favorite recordings (vader + decapitated's winds of creation). I really dig decap's riffs and monster rhythm playing ( not straight and predictable 32nd's) + solos (short but sweet and in key to!). Their drummer isn't human either. It is not all blast beats neither. I hate the vocals but they are down in the mix ( a + ). Any suggestions in this vein????

Thanx Jimbo. I have both Of Martyr's releases and they are crushing.I also have the latest T.I.P .... very killer. Exivios, Illogicist, and Alarum I have never heard before but will check out.....

WOW.... THAT LIBRARIUSMETALLICUS PAGE IS EXCELLENT. Some bands i've heard , some i've heard of but never had a chance to hear ,some i've never knew existed. Good Job + Thanx Again ...................

Carcass
At the Gates
Soilwork
In Flames
Cancer
Obituary
Dissection (though some dub them black metal)
Quo Vadis
Old Sepultura (Schizophrenia for example; though I like anything from Beneath the Remain on up better)
TestAmenT - Demonic
Death

Black Metal bands:
Emperor
Immortal
Dimmu Borgir
Cradle of Filth
Borknagar
Ulver
Zyklon

DavE

Old school death:
Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Morbid Angel and DEATH!!!

Melodic Death:
In Flames!!!
Dark Tranquillity
Burden Of Grief
At The Gates

good death metal = later Death, Cryptopsy, Quo Vadis, Morbid Angel, Forsaken(Manifest of Hate is great)(whoa, that rhymed), Carcass(later stuff is quite melodic though), some Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth:rock:, Opeth(the death parts are good)

good melodic death metal = arch enemy, in flames, soilwork, children of bodom

you must get NECROPHAGIST- Onset Of Putrifaction

a must have for all technical death metal lovers. All done by one guy and contains intense guitar riffing and killer soloing. Vocals in the low growl realm but the music here is just top-notch.

SCEPTIC- Pathetic Being is also a great death metal release with complex rhythms and technical, shredding solos. You can hear the DEATH influence in their music but they are no clones. Great cd from these 19-20 yr olds from Poland.

If you liked Decapitated's Winds of Creation cd Nihility is even better IMO.

SUSPERIA has just released an amazing piece of work. Not quite what I'd call death metal but certainly worth checking out anyway. You'll be suprised. Awesome stuff here.

Some other great bands you might want to check out are
Disinter
Soulless
Lowbrow
Monstrosity
