Death - The sound of perseverance

I love this album, I could care less about circularity or the fact that the album was influenced by something. So, it might not be the best album in the world, but it is still pretty amazing. There is a lot to this album, and I don't see how anyone could deny that it is good. I especially liked how they use all of the oriental stylings and notes in this album. I am not real experianced with metal, so I don't know how unique that is, but I still like it.

Sucks is a very strong word. Hardly anything truly sucks. Think of how much work he put into this album just for some prick to come along and dismiss it because it doesn't fit his criteria. Imagine writing some album and putting a lot of work into it, and some elitist comes along and says "It blows because it isn't [insert some descriptive word] enough". The whole point of contemporary music is that you do whatever the hell you wan't.

the music on TSOP is great, but the fact that each track can be chopped in half is what drags it down a bit, from his other work. i don't like the whole '4 min of awesomeness,' middle section, '4 min of the same awesomeness, from the beginning.' no need for doing it twice.

I agree, although it does add a sense of closure to some tracks. Death did a better job recapitulating on Symbolic.

Great album and progressive, too. There's a flow, thus the songs length. Prog fans will like the length, death fans would frown at anything above 3 minutes that doesn't have more than two passages repeated.

Topics- the human mind and spiritualism.

The album is hard to explain, but I even hear shades of Coroner and Celtic Frost in it. Richard Christy's drumming is insanely technical. Cool that he landed on his feet on the Hoard Stern Show now.
