just to be devils advocate here....

why is something like "djent" a trend? sure its a band pretty much ripping off the style of another band (meshuggah) and putting some of their own flavor in it and putting it out there. isnt that how any genre started? thrash? that has its own distinct sound cause a bunch of bands ripped each other off. death metal? black metal? or even out of the realm of metal. country's foundation is extremely formulaic. so why is this just a trend?
