LumiLor Ectroluminescent Paint

To be honest i see even more use of this in many things others than music. If the paint is reliable and has longevity, think about signalisation in the street (I'm talking "useful" ones, not just advertisement although this could use it as well), on domestic objects/machines, on the ground maybe as well or even on the road... It's full of posibilities !

I agree 100%, but we gotta start somewhere. Guitars being highly visible, sexy, small and easy to coat and wire will simply be the first usage that gets the public introduced to LumiLor. Boats, planes, safety features, turn signals...when real artists get this shit and begin animating paint jobs... it should be a fun ride!-)

I want my RG2228 stripped and repainted with this stuff...... how much $$$?

It would look amazing on that guitar and as much as I would love to throw out a number to to start drumming up business, I don't have an answer for you.

Until we prototype a few more and the set up the production model I cant even price one of our own yet.

I can tell you that offering the service to take in someones guitar and light it up with LumiLor would create more opportunities to generate business and create nightmares in QC and service, so we will be doing this last. It is a no brainer to go there but we want to be cautious in how this is done to ensure some quality standards.

Im interested to see if it causes any interference with pickups, I taped electroluminescent wire on my guitar, and the battery pack driver/inverter caused super unbearable interference almost like a solid feedback tone with the pickups. Tried it with a few different drivers and same thing.

Good luck!!:headbang:

I understand. Keep in mind though that most guitarists already have guitars that they are happy with in terms of sound, playability, etc. and won't be interested in buying one of these just for the sake of the cool looking effects.

Thanks man!

Yeah, we know that interference is going to be a possibility. The inverter is the problem, which is why we're going to go with a foot pedal to get it away from the body. We'll have a single cord that will carry through a custom pedal to control the effects, and then that will line out to your sound pedals/amp. Our prototype is being tested - we're running it through the oscilloscope to ensure our sound is clean, and will absolutely have that covered before we move forward with production.

All business is risky and we know we will never be able to please everyone. If this is successful, as time goes on we will be able to expand the services we offer to include customizing after market guitars for people.

We know it wont fly if it is just a cool effect, that is why we are working with a 30 yr vet from the business to make sure we get great sound and action.

Sounds like it could work. We tried extending the wires to the battery pack and attaching it higher up and it helped a little (only a couple feet extra though, your idea might work better in a pedal further away.)

Even it if caused interference i would buy one anywayss and just pretend to play guitar on stage to a backing track. Your idea is that cool. I want a whole suit of this stuff, and i want my car painted in thiss stuff so i can hit a switch and time travel.

Id paint my house in it and you could probabaly see it from space

I know what you mean. I am sales, marketing and media here at Darkside Scientific, so I dream about the cool shit that could be done with LumiLor.

We purposefully try NOT to think of all the possibilities, because we know it will be somebody else doing it for the most part. We will be doing the music scene but when it comes to the crazy cool stuff, it will most likely be from some big company who has licensed its use for a particular area and they can work out the details.

I want a light saber made with it. Its pretty darn durable so I think you could actually hold a saber fight with someone else. Get ripped to shreds, turn off the lights and go all Darth Vader on someones ass, ha!

Update- We are still in development and are in the process of trying to raise some funds to keep this start up rolling. We are in a contest to win one of several grants from Chase for $250k each. In case anyone here would like to help there is a link and details on our homepage at lumilor.com where you can log in and vote via Facebook.

So, I'm not into bikes at all, but just stumbled on this video and wanted to bump this thread.

Looks pretty damn awesome. I want some intense LumiLor-powered psychedelic art on my guitar!
