Much as I love both, Dio era Rainbow has been spending rather a lot of time in my stereo lately, so I vote for them .

I'd go with Rainbow. But whatever the Coverdale/Hughes/Blackmore/Paice/Lord lineup is (Mark III?) is far superior to both of em. So is the Coverdale/Hughes/Bolin/Paice/Lord lineup, even though half the band probably didn't know what was going on half the time. Come Taste the Band is awesome!

Come Taste the band is awesome... But so is Burn and stormbringer. And all the MK 2 albums are fuckin gold as well. Probably the best 70's band of the 70's

But Dio era rainbow is pretty fuckin good too. Stargazer is one of my fave songs, and I love Catch the Rainbow, Temple of the King, Gates of Babylon, Rainbow Eyes, Kill the King, Light in the Black.... Fuckin gold Jerry... GOLD!
