Picked this up today. It really is as good as you may have heard (if you are one who cares). Easily the best since the reunion albums (in my opinion). I've only had a couple of listens but I'm very impressed.

All that and the chance to listen to the mighty Ian Gillan sing (easily my #1 fave of all time).

Bananas was fine, but this one's a killer. It's easily their best album in quite a few years, at least since Perfect Strangers and House of the Blue Light. It fits in just fine with those two.

Ah Soundmaster, I was counting on you - and still am. I'm pretty sure you'll post some raves when you hear it. Seriously, it's fantastic man.

I'm posting one more time here just to keep this thread alive, purely because I hope some folks will pick this one up.

I think of Saxon's Lionheart (and last few albums generally speaking) as a return to form in a modern setting, so to speak. This new Deep Purple album acheives that kind of thing for me. I'm telling ya, it's a killer. Rooted in old-school Deep Purple, but forward thinking. I have to remake my top 10 list now. As of this moment, after about five listens, this is in my top five. A true stunner. No joke.

Here's a link to a video - the whole album is more or less in the vein of this song. There is a tune called Before Time Began that is an epic/introspective/metaphysical monster. The whole thing owns!

Wow.....if the comparison can be made to the recent Saxon's return to kicking-ass, then this MUST be a great record. I shall pick it up this week, for certain.

Despite Wyvern's bad review, I still might have to pick this up. Our musical tastes don't always match up (about 80% match, 20% no match). I loved Bananas so I know they're still capable of writing great music.

Still not interested in picking it up, it may complete a haul soon tho'. Still defend (and always be) that "Bananas" is far more superior and I'm dissapointed with ROTD.
