How would you guys recommend going about emulating a guitar tone like this? I wouldn't even know where to start, other than boosting the mids a ton.

hahaha thanks. I should have clarified; I meant in the context of recording and mixing. The guitars are simultaneously dense but also light and airy-sounding, for lack of a better term.

There are four rhythm guitars in every song. We used the Boss HM-2 distortion pedal with a Marshall JCM 800 amp and Marshall cabinets on two of the tracks. The other two were tracked with the Boss HM-2 through an old Peavey Bandit combo."

I remember somewhere the old bass player used a Boss DS-1 into his bass amp live.
