dense mix in progress [real string quartet, vintage marshall etc]

this is only an early mix at the moment, want to make sure the guitar tone is in the right kind of place.

drums are as natural as I feel like I can get away with. the real snare wasnt my favourite but its still blended in a decent amount with the sample. kick is a blend of mic and samples, toms are natural.

bass was a weird fender model, sounded kind of weird but took EQ and some extreme sansamp pedal settings well.

guitars are 2 tracks of a cheap telecaster with single coils through a JMP100 2203, 2 tracks of a les paul studio through a dual rec. both with maxon 808 and mesa cab.

EARLY MIX

its in early stages, and there is a fuck load of tracks to keep control of so still needs quite a bit of work. hope its in the right direction :)

I find the difference between the intro center guitar and the rhythm guitars afterwards odd. It goes from a middish sound to a VERY hollow sounding tone, it almost sounds like it switches to a different song instead of hyping up to the epic chords that follow after.
After that the rhythm comes in and I think they might be a bit too heavy in the low end, try highpassing a little more and see what happens.
The snare sticks out a little, maybe it's a little too loud or maybe too dry. I'd like it more in the back of the mix instead of the front so it fits in more with the ambient qualities of the song.

Besides that I'm really liking it. The lead in the background fits very well.
