We’re Desdemona!!! a four-piece doom metal band formed while studying in Worthing, UK. Between lessons, really late night sessions, trying to sneak our drummer in to practice, and having to record it all in a tiny campus recording room, we put together our debut EP, Corpus Maledicti. four tracks exploring vengeance, guilt, and the darker side of redemption, and a complimentary Candlemass cover, just for good measure.
We’re inspired by bands like My Dying Bride, Sins of Thy Beloved, Electric Wizard, and Katatonia, and we tried to capture that old, ritualistic weight of doom without over-producing it, the vocals are witchy and melodic while still staying evil. There’s nothing more raw than having to cram 4 kids into a 1x1 meter room to get as much recorded before the inevitable 5pm kick out.
it’s short (about 12 minutes) but packed with everything we love about the genre.
We recorded everything ourselves on campus, mixed with free software, and learned a ton in the process. We’d genuinely love to hear feedback from other metal fans/ bands/ whoever’s down to share what worked for them, what you’d improve, etc.
