I was wondering, which one is the best for recording because I want to buy a new PC.

I would love to know if there are online stores to build PCs by your taste or needs.

thanks!

Bro, you are FAR better sourcing the parts and building it yourself!

I did, build a fucking beast of a machine for £375

Both are good options. I guess it depends more on if you plan to travel a bit with your DAW or go stationary. Its easy to find resources via the web on making your custom PC (its easier than one thinks to), though laptops are a bit varied in their customizing. Also a good amount of online parts stores to get deals hella cheap and deliver just as fast.

Dude, if you do build a pc, don't buy anything from a company called "tigerdirect.com" I won't go into details, but I have ordered from them three times, and I've had MAJOR issues with every order. They still owe me from 2005, and they're CS people are dumb as rocks! Just lookin out, man.

Ditto on that. Buyer BEWARE!!!! Had a horrible experience with them.

They also caused a great online store down here called tigerdirect.com.au to have to change names, hahah. On the other hand, our downunder counterpart is owned by someone with great knowledge.

His store is now called extremePC and can be found at www.extremepc.com.au

There are many traps one can get caught in. I sourced all the parts for my new machine myself and had all sorts of warranty issues, because you're just bound to get a piece of hardware that doesn't work up to snuff.

Just make sure you order from a place that accepts returns without too much hassle and will give you good customer service and of course has decent prices.

I could tell you some good places to look for stuff in Australia, but internationally I have no idea.

I already have a laptop, but I really think I need more RAM, I have like...750mb.

so I was thinking about the chance of building my own PC

p.s.: CHILEEEEEEE!!!

just built my new DAW this past weekend......sourced the parts from various vendors and with a few small hiccups, I had the thing purring in 5 or 6 hours.

Specs:
Intel Dual Core 6600
Intel D975XBXLKR motherboard
2 gig RAM
RME Fireface 400
450 gig in HD Space.
XP Pro running Nuendo 3.2.

Pleased.
