DESTROYER 666 is so goddamn METAL, they clank and crash

Deströyer 666 is the single most capital M Metal band that has ever existed

As I've said before, if I were to put one band's discography in a time capsule to show people 10000 years from now what heavy metal was all about, D666 would be it

I was lstening to Terror Abraxas and I finally figured out who that EP reminds me of: faster Morrigan and somewhat like Megiddo.

I was really impressed with that EP. I'll prolly get some Gospel of the Horns with my next haul from Dark Horizon, as well as maybe some Desaster.

tell me for the 564915618th time, is Absu really any good? And by "good" I mean, do they offer anything unique, original, mindblowing, or different from other blackened thrash bands?

the reason I ask is because I'm currently planning a big haul from Dark Horizon, and want to know if Absu is worth it. I've heard their debut Barathrum, and wasn't impressed, but I've read that is easily their worst.

I would find and post the pic of me and KK Warslut from Wacken last year right now if I wasn't so drunk after drinking with Amon amarth tonight.

Absu - Stone of Destiny

Definitely not the same kind of black-thrash as D666, but still very good, IMO.

Also thought this would be a good place to show off :D

Oh, it's all pretty damn good, but Stone of Destiny is something of a standout track. Might also want to hear the songs "Pillars of Mercy" and "She Cries the Quiet Lake".

That song is better than I expected, actually. Yeah, not the same kind of black thrash as D666.

I'll prolly get some Absu later on, after I have all the HEAVY FUCKING BLACKENED THRASH METAL, BEER, SPIKES, LEATHER I can stand. My next haul will prolly consist of some cheese (Bal Sagoth) and some Heavy Metal Thunder (Desaster, Gospel of the Horns).

Tara is AMAZING. Hands down best blackened/thrash album ever. I rarely discuss my love for Absu, and you'll probably never hear me talk about anything thrash or pseudo-trash ever again, but this album is seriously in my top 5.

Manannán = :OMG:

And by the way, have any of you seen any live Absu videos? For the people that don't know this, Pro plays drums AND does vocals, and yes, he does it live too. Fucking listen to the drums on that track and imagine trying to sing as well. He does this intense ancient Celtic thing at the beginning of their shows, it's truly just incredible.

do you have any videos you can upload? this sounds fascinating

that HOH disc is very repetitive ... tried it a few times and all the songs just sound the same.

maybe Naglfar would be a better suggestion ...

did I ever say that Blood Red Throne is the bomb :loco: .. :kickass:

I'd get "Barathrum V.I.T.R.I.O.L." if I were you, the best Absu release by far. Featuring unusual but cool-as-hell chord progressions, interesting use of the bass guitar and excellent epic songwriting, this is perhaps THE finest USBM release ever. The drumming is top notch as well, but no so extreme and "all over the effin' place all the time" (see "Tara"), and I think this suits the album perfectly. "Tara" is rather overrated, methinks, and I grew pretty tired of it after a while.

They've now knocked Decapitated off the throne, and have been awarded with "Henrik Main's Favourite Death Metal Band" prize. Angel Corpse isn't far behind, but BRT is a tiny, wee bit better.
