While I've seen videos of Dethklok at certain metal events, it would be cool to see them playing at big festivals. Would you like to see them play at events like Ozzfest, Download, Wacken, etc?

Ozzfest ain't in Europe, and there's always Mayhem or Summer Slaughter, both of which would really suit the Klok, IMO.

Why would they have to do that? Dethklok isn't exactly Slayer, they opened for Mastodon in New York. Right now Slaughter has Cannibal Corpse headlining, a band from a cartoon isn't gonna suddenly elevate them to needing to play big venues.

I know Ozzfest isn't in Europe, but Download and Wacken are. I saw them at Mayhem Festival 2011, and they were great

I'm basically referring to the major outdoor festivals. I remember them playing at indoor events.

Dethklok is a fun novelty band. They make legit music, and some songs are seriously badass (Laser Cannon Deth Sentence is nuts). The big draw is the fact that they're a joke band that actually GETS the audience, rather than just mocking metalheads from the outside. Brendan Small obviously loves metal himself.

I'd have to agree with this. I'm sure the guys behind Dethklok actually like death metal, but the whole band and their popularity just kinda stinks for me. Every Dethklok fan I've ever met has been the type that wears "And Justice For All" sweatshirts (without listening to the album of course) and listens to metalcore. For them, Dethklok is like a "haha i have a sense of humor about metal"-band even though they don't actually listen to metal which instead makes it a "haha death metal is silly"-band, as if any actual metal that isn't ____core is a joke. So I guess its more the fans that annoy me than the actual guys behind it. Also the music is terrible.
And it's not as if I can't have a sense of humor about the music I listen to, but it's more about who I share those jokes with. Whether its laughing at the cheesiness of the "Holy Diver" video or even making fun of 'more serious' bands like Agalloch, the people I can do that stuff with are people that love the music. So yea we can laugh at midget middle-aged Dio walking around with a giant sword or John Haughm's nasal, occasionally out of tune clean vocals, but we still love listening to it all, whereas I feel people that listen to Dethklok don't even know who Chuck Schuldiner was.
