I really wanted to go to this.
My whole sat night was fucked up and I finally ended up at a punk gig, wishing I was at Devils Kitchen.
Next year I must.
I went and really enjoyed Pod People and Looking Glass. Pod People played an instrumental set, i can't remember what happened to their singer, but it made me realise how great they are musically. The vocals really turn me off and i can't help feeling they would be a better band with a more traditional doom vocalist.
Looking Glass are such a killer live band! One of those bands whose studio recordings do them no justice at all.
I still think most bands aren't good in the studio, they get too overproduced.
I had a good time. Wish the CDs were cheaper or that I didn't drink so much and could have bought more.
I think if you don't sound good in the studio you really aren't good at all. Great live bands can win you over with their energy and vibe but an average studio recording usually means songs without any real hooks or lasting impact. I'd hate to put Looking Glass in this category but asthey are a pretty new band i'm sure they can produce some great studio material.
Depends on the band, like most things. I've seen some that I'd definately agree, others... not at all.
How many black metal bands have you been in a bedroom with Dave?
