Devin's growls

Is it Devin doing the death-like deep growls, for example in Mountain or on the new SYL? I think they're great, and I wonder how a death metal album from Devin would sound like

Val usually does background ones...and it also sounds like Val at the beginning of Mountain. You can hear him a few times on the new SYL as well.
