Diablo III

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I understand your concerns and it is true that some of the decisions Blizzard make are questionable and some are too obviously geared towards a maximum income at all costs. I've witnessed similar concerns throughout the development of SC2 and while some of them were perfectly valid, this didn't stop the game from being immensely good, exciting, successful and so on. Furthermore, if they see there's an outcry because of some issue they tend to fix it eventually, but not hastily, because let's face it - there are millions of vocal morons that play their game and whine about everything, often because they have no understanding of the issue or no gaming skill .

The thing that bothers me is that they are playing it really safe in recent years. While SC2 had great polish and presentation... it had no real pulling power for me. I gradually stopped playing and stopped caring. It didn't even touch the benchmark that Company of Heroes set for RTS as a genre. The problem is that Blizzard have vested interests now. They need to keep the competitive gamers happy, and they need to keep people coming in and paying, so they play things safe, make sure everything is balanced, and all microtransactions are embedded into their system and easy to make.

My interest these days lies more with the developers that have less to lose, and as such I'm really excited about Path of Exile. Their skill system is touching at what Titan Quest started, and I've been waiting for an A-RPG maker to have the balls to take that on for years now.

TBH, SC2 kept my interest for more than a year and a half (incl. beta), which considering how ADHD-like we've all become is pretty impressive. I was also watching shoutcasts and replays a LOT and pro SC2 games are really the most exciting and epic thing for me as far as watching other people play goes.

Sorry to res. this, but the Beta is coming very soon. Have you guys updated your beta profiles? They finally came out with a new D3 community site too. I've been playing D2 like crazy too just to get my Diablo fix. I'm getting so excited!:loco:

^ Download the new beta-profile-system-check-thingy and run it.

Beta is supposed to come September apparently but not 100%.

Ahhh suck again! lol. Yea I updated mine a while back too. I work with a guy whose sister works for Blizzard, so my fingers are really crossed for Beta!! :D

Ahh finally, got it going. Fingers crossed and all.

You guys see the latest interview with Jay talking about a FOURTH difficulty mode with uber unique items? I got my Viagra ready. Let's make this shit happen,

Yeah, I really need a good RPG to dig into, I've already grown tired of Dragon Age 2 (fucking Kirkwall), and I'm not really enjoying Total War as much as I remember....

Yeah, inferno difficulty. I wonder if you'd be able to find enough awesome items there to be able to sell them and basically get paid the money you spent for the actual game. I guess it would depend on how many potential buyers there will be and how many uber-grinders flooding the market with items.

The Koreans will monopolize it immediately.

Haha! It will definitely be a type of industry that's for sure! Have any of you guys played D2 recently? The amount of bot spammers is ridiculous and I hope this doesn't happen to d3 also. I'm guessing that it's inevitable, but I hope they work to keep as much of that out as possible.

Will there be separate auction houses in each region? Will I be allowed to bid on items from players outside my own region?

Due to various factors, including technology, language, and currency, there will be multiple separate auction houses serving different player communities around the world. We'll share specific details on how the auction houses will work for each region as we get closer to launch. 2.
If I live in Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia, what server will I play Diablo III on?

As with StarCraft II, players who purchase the Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia version of Diablo III will have their own regional servers, offering lower latency and more action during peak hours. While we encourage players to play on these servers, we recognize that many have longstanding friendships with North American players and would like to continue playing with them. Because of this, we're again giving Australia/New Zealand/ Southeast Asia gamers access to both regions' servers so they can choose where they'd prefer to play. 3.
How does this impact the items I have purchased in the auction house?

Auction house purchases are bound to the servers in the region in which they're bought. Any items acquired on the Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia servers, in-game or otherwise, are bound to those servers and are not transferrable to the North American servers (and vice versa). Please keep this in mind when making purchases in the auction house.
