Locking threads = discussion gets out of hand
Deleting threads = illegal or overly offensive content

Keep in mind there's probably a lot of minors surfing the boards.

Don't get me wrong, I'm always about free speech/liberalism or the likes but I'm sure there's a good reason for that thread vanishing into the digital nirvana.
