I highly doubt he was the mastermind in all of those incidents, especially the Pearl beheading, Pearl was a target of opportunity. If any thing he is saying he planned all off these to take pressure the legit masterminds involved, the confessions could be partially false due to intense "questioning" by the CIA or it just might be a propaganda campaign by the current administration to help raise public opinion. Dont get me wrong the guy played a part but his role is prob. more limited than he is claiming.
