What do you guys prefer of the two? Are the preamps better in one then the other? Just trying to get some opinions.

:kickass:

By all accounts, the build quality of the 003 is lacking compared to the 002. If you must run PTLE, then go for the 003 Rack. The M-Audio ProFire 2626 is getting some favorable reviews as well, and Pro Tools M-Powered is just as good as LE.

its the same thing... just has some transport controls and extra things here and there to allow you to use the mouse less... also motorized faders...

I made a straight trade a while ago... traded my 002R for the 002 console... and now I don't even use the faders or anything anymore...

I have a 003 console but in all honesty, dont use the controls it offers much at all. I imagine I would do more so in a situation where I was mixing something more dynamic. It would be awesome to have something like the C24 where you can fit more channels youre working with, but having just 8 at one time isnt so great..

Get either the Rack + (for the 8 preamps/DIs) OR the Profire 2626 +PT MP8, or Used 002 rack, get it modded and PT 8 upgrade.

I do think the 003 line is way overpriced. The preamps and converters are greatly improved from the 002 line, and there's a few other nice features on the front panel, but still at least $500 overpriced.

yeah my friend has the 2626 im going to go check it out to see how much i like it! The only reason i would want the 003 console is for the control surface. I know someone that has one and i actually would use the mixer and all the transport buttons.

You can find used Digi 002 racks for $500 or so, depending on the person selling it. The 003 has one more headphone out and a word clock function, those are the major differences as far as I know.
